Late Mail Luncheon VII 2012

A smorgasbord of racing talent to be served up for the
2012 Rokk Ebony Late Mail Luncheon® VII

The Late Mail Luncheon® is getting warmed up for another year with champion trainers Mick Price, Greg Eurell, Leon Macdonald and Steven Burridge ready to tip the winners of the 2012 Derby and Melbourne Cup.

Hosted by Grand Hyatt Melbourne on Derby Day eve, Friday November 2, 2012, the must-attend event of the 2012 spring racing carnival has a lot to live up to after Shannon Noll stole the sell-out show last year.

The Late Mail Luncheon®, spring racing's premier social event, is held on Derby Day eve in Melbourne each year and brings together trainers, racing experts, dignitaries, celebrities, fashionistas and of course, serious punters.

This year's luncheon will feature champion trainers Mick Price, Greg Eurell, Leon Macdonald and Singapore-based Steven Burridge on the Trainers Panel who will try and select the winners of the 2012 Victoria Derby and Melbourne Cup.

They will be joined by some of racing's most successful faces including Joe Janiak, Con Karakatsanis and Lloyd Kennewell and champion jockey Craig Newitt.

Special guests on the day include 2009 Melbourne Cup winning owner Laurence Eales and Collingwood Football Club captain Nick Maxwell.

This extraordinary line up will preview the big races on Derby and Cup day to try and provide guests with some insight, analysis and of course, winning tips for the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

Master of Ceremonies Shawn Cosgrove will be joined by Key Note Speaker, David Galbally QC. David is of course the son of legendary criminal lawyer Frank Galbally; is a Queen's Counsel and is considered one of the most influential and thought provoking legal minds in the country.

David's key note speech this year will focus on the increasing phenomenon of horse owners gearing themselves up to earn more money off the track than on it.

Rokk Ebony, Australia's leading luxury hair brand is the naming sponsor of the 7th annual luncheon and has added some glamour to the luncheon by hosting a pre-luncheon breakfast at their award-winning South Melbourne salon where VIP's will be treated to complimentary hair treatments and styling before joining the luncheon celebrations.

The Late Mail Luncheon® has supported worthy causes since its inception in 2005, by raising much-needed funds for those less fortunate. In 2012, fundraising efforts will contribute towards the funding of a new operating theatre or ‘cath lab' for heart attack victims in Melbourne. The Late Mail Luncheon® has distributed in excess of $400,000 to charitable causes to date.

Event organisers are thrilled to announce that Wilson Parking Australia have renewed their support for the event as a Foundation Partner.

"Events such as ours simply would not exist without the support of companies like Wilson Parking and we are once again very grateful to them for their long standing support" said Event Director Mark Scaife.

Book a Bay Offer
Parking for the Late Mail Luncheon® VII will be limited, so why not pre-book and save money and time. As a Foundation Partner, Wilson Parking offers a special $20 rate online at the following car parks on Friday 2nd November 2012; Grand Hyatt, Collins Place, & 180 Russell Street. To access this special rate, you must enter LateMail in the Discount Voucher field in step 1 of the booking process. This special rate is available for entry after 10:30am.

Official Luncheon Ambassadors on the day include AFL Coleman Medallist and racing tragic Scott Cummings, racehorse owner Annie Leo and racing style queen Olivia Nunn. They will welcome guests on the day and help encourage guests to embrace healthy lifestyles and reduce the risk of heart attack.

Now in its 7th year and with lunch events already established in Adelaide and more planned for Perth and Singapore, the Late Mail Luncheon® is one of the few racing events that brings together the racing industry and the general public in an intimate event where limited ticketing means everyone is treated like a VIP.

The lunch is usurped only by the legendary and infamous Official After Party which kicks off immediately after the lunch concludes.

Attendance to the Official After Party this year is by Invitation Only and is expected to run well into the early hours of the morning - this year rumoured to be at the Spice Market (bottom of Grand Hyatt) but is for serious stayers only!
